Southeast Louisiana Legal Services helps people solve civil law problems for stronger, safer and better lives. SLLS is the region`s first port of call for civil legal assistance to the poor. Southeast Louisiana Legal Services, Corp. (SLLS) is partially funded by Legal Services Corporation. As a condition of the funding it receives from the Société des services juridiques, it is prohibited from engaging in certain activities throughout its legal work, including work supported by other sources of funding. SLLS may not spend funds on activities prohibited by the Legal Services Corp Act, 42 U.S.C. 1996 et seq. or prohibited by Public Act 104-134. Public Law 104-134-504(d) requires that all funders of programs funded by the Société des services juridiques be notified of these restrictions. Call for Applications – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Consultant Quick Overview Southeast Louisiana Legal Services (SLLS) solicits SLLS` services and engages with the communities they serve by offering individuals a series of workshops called “Know Your Rights.” These workshops provide people with the knowledge they need to protect their legal rights. Southeast Louisiana Legal Services (SLLS) is a not-for-profit law firm that has been serving residents of low-income communities since 1979. SLLS provides free services to eligible individuals through its employees and pro bono lawyers.
SLLS works with community groups and social services to provide up-to-date information on legal issues affecting the poor in Louisiana. SLLS also works with other legal advocacy groups across the state and nationwide in litigation and educational efforts to protect the legal rights of the poor and improve their lives. The Hammond office serves congregations in Livingston, St. Helena and Tangipahoa. The Covington office serves congregations in St. Tammany and Washington. Communities south of Lake Ponchartrain are served by offices in New Orleans and Harvey. SLLS now covers an area of 22 municipalities in southeastern Louisiana, including the Baton Rouge metropolitan area.
