There have always been bad calls from agents, and they will continue. But the rules must be clearly defined and the parameters delimited to avoid as much as possible the dubious decisions of the refs. The legalization of sports betting makes accurate arbitration even more important. It`s time for the NBA to be honest. Most calls are obvious, but some are not. If not, officials should officially have the leeway to make a subjective decision about which player was the fair user of the room where the collision took place. If the offensive player initiates contact or does not avoid a defender who hit him in the room, the call should be a charge. However, if a defensive player is late to have equitable ownership of space and inhibits the movement of the offensive player, it should be a blocking foul. Javie, who spent 25 years as an NBA official and refereed 18 GAMES of the NBA Finals, explained that Durant committed a foul on James because James was the fair owner of the room that Durant later occupied. Javie also explained that he called the piece an attack because he believed James Durant hit the area and that although James moved slightly when contact occurred, Javie believed James` feet had been planted and that he was “strengthening” and preparing for contact when it occurred. Loading and blocking rules have been around for so long that it`s hard to imagine an NBA without them, but they`re not without opponents.
In March, Bob Ryan wrote an article arguing for an end to the fouls. “It amazes me how this was integrated into the game of basketball in the first place,” he wrote. Of course, this will never happen. The rules of basketball are mostly universal, and block load calls are an integral part of the game at all levels. That`s why we`re stuck with non-radical optimizations. And when it comes to such optimizations, the NCAA`s approval of the guidelines recommended by the basketball committee is considered at least a small step in the right direction. The worst and most inconsistent calls are of the block load variety, and New York Knicks fans are no strangers to it. But first let`s look at the situation in open ground. The rule states that the defense attorney only has to establish a position of legal protection to present an indictment. Because the piece in question was decisive, it has been and will be discussed for some time. And no matter what you think of the call made or not, we can all agree that a load/block call is always based on the subjective observation of the agents present and will always be based. Defensive players often fail to make a loading call, which means they exaggerate the amount of contact they received when they fall to the ground.
The goal is to make the offensive player appear guilty because he has committed an indictment. It`s a blocking foul and a clever game from Crawford. Javie came to ESPN`s SportsCenter after the game to discuss the call, but focused his appearance primarily on whether NBA officials were allowed to review the appeal themselves and what rules apply to the review. However, unlike the broadcast of the match, Javie did not comment on whether the game in question was in fact a block or an accusation. NBA rules state: “If an offensive player comes into contact with a defensive player who has established a legal position, an offensive foul is called and no points can be scored. A defensive player can easily turn around to protect himself, but should never bend over and put an opponent underwater. An attack is strong on the dribbler when he collides with a defensive player who has gained a legal position on the way to the basket. The difference between a charge and a blockAlthough you may think they are similar, they are two completely different calls to basketball.
An offense is an offensive foul and a block is a defensive foul. When a charge is called, it means that an offensive player has made significant contact with a defender who has an established position. When a block is called, it means that an offensive player has made significant contact with a defender who is not in a stationary position or in a restricted area or who does not provide enough space. The restrictive zone is defined as the four-foot arch under the basket where a player cannot shoot loads. This rule is designed to prevent defenders from staying under the basket while attacking players storm the net. At the moment, referees can only check if a player`s feet are in the restricted area, and only in the last two minutes. However, the league`s competition committee has recommended expanding review situations on block/load calls over the past year, so this could change. The NBA has never allowed verdicts to be reviewed before, but it seems determined to approach blocking/indictment reviews in some way. Before the offensive player (with the ball) goes into the air, the defender must have two feet on the ground, face the opponent and be motionless to shoot an attack. Otherwise, it should be a blocking error. We`ve made the same mistake of allowing offensive players to meet and get in touch with defensive players, and by allowing officials to choose when to apply the rules (seriously, how often do you see a verified and picked up loading error?), we`re more confused.
We also cling for a long time to the idea that a defensive player must be “planted” and motionless to shoot an offensive foul. But even this is not true. For NBA officials, the demarcation point of a charge versus a block is whether the defenseman is in a position of legal protection and where his upper body is in relation to the player he is defending. As for the slide block, the rule needs to be changed. It consists of two parts. The first situation is where the pilot is well defended before his last dribble. Here, the “beat it to the point” should apply. If the offensive man comes into contact while being closely monitored, it is an offensive foul. No change in the rule is necessary – only the fair application of it. It`s very frustrating for anyone interested in the NBA to have random and inconsistent calls.
Block load calls are the most capricious in the game. The restricted area in a part of the field where defensive players are not allowed to intervene when they raise a load. If a player`s feet are on the line, this is automatically considered a blocking error. For example, most people believe that the restricted area under the basket is an area where it is impossible for a defensive player to shoot an attack against an offensive player heading towards the basket. That`s not true. Since the days of Michael Jordan, a defender`s best chance to thwart his air has been to beat him at a spot on the field and make a foul. Over the years, however, the line between offense and block has blurred, with the peak of their absurdity in the NBA Finals. To some extent, yes. The regulation states that a defender must “put his upper body straight on the path and hit him to the point.” Secondary defenders (auxiliary defenders) who move forward or to the side are also injured and these should block fouls. A four-foot bow under the basket under which players cannot shoot loads. The rule is designed to prevent players from hanging under the edge while offensive players head to the basket. A defender must fix his position outside the range to fire a charge.
The exception: when the dribbler began his training in the lower defensive box, known as the “area from the bottom tip of the free throw circle to the end line between the two post-up scorers of 3”. Unfortunately for public servants, such a difficult call can never be easier. That`s why, as I wrote in our first Change the Game article of the season, I believe a more radical block charging paradigm is needed. I still don`t know why defense lawyers should be so motivated to lay charges in the first place. I`d rather see a rule change that forces defenders to make real moves on the ball without fouling, and I`d like to see referees work assuming that not all contacts require a foul, rather than the other way around. Committee members felt that “indictment or blocking appeals were not made properly in some cases, which sometimes gave the defence an advantage.” All the fans of university hoops in the country are currently nodding their heads in agreement.
